Melanistic Poults looking good on delivery!

A recent delivery of melanistic poults looking well going into the release pen. It is not often you see a pen of all melanistic’s and it does look good!! These little beauties divide the keepering world, some love them some hate them and say they wander more than the regular ones, my feeling is they just stand out more so you notice them where they should not be and that there’s just as many regular ones walking that far with them. We like them on our own shoots as big strong birds to face into the prevailing wind, Melanistic’s and Black Necks certainly go into a head wind better and are good options for whistle feeding as they are just that bit more food minded than the lighter breeds.
